Quebec's Solidarity Tax Credit is a refundable credit paid in monthly instalments to low- and middle-income Quebec residents. Many eligible recipients miss it entirely.
Three Components
QST Component: Available to all eligible Quebec residents — reduces the burden of QST on everyday purchases.
Housing Component: For those who rented or owned a principal residence in Quebec at December 31.
Northern Village Component: For residents of designated northern Quebec municipalities.
2026 Maximum Amounts
- Single person: up to ~$1,008/year
- Couple without children: up to ~$1,337/year
- Families with children: higher amounts based on composition
Income Thresholds
Credit reduces when family income exceeds ~$38,000 and phases out around $60,000–$70,000 depending on family size.
How to Claim
File Schedule D of your Quebec TP-1 return. Revenu Québec calculates monthly payments for the following July–June payment cycle. Payments are deposited directly to your bank account monthly.
Update your status immediately if marital situation or housing changes — overpayments must be repaid, underpayments are permanently missed.
